About POINT
POINT is an Oldham based charity that informs, advises, supports and empowers Parents & Carers and Children and Young People with additional needs and disabilities.
Our parents and carers often come to POINT when they have nowhere else to turn and often in times of crisis. We currently support over 3,500 families in the various types of work our charity does: SEND Information, Advice and Support Service, SEND Workshops & Training Service, Oldham Parent Carer Forum, SEND Mediation and DRS Service, and SEND Activities and Short Breaks.
The families we support can often be excluded from society and marginalised from their peers because of the complex needs and issues they may be facing. We value each family’s uniqueness and adapt our approaches to meet their needs, having often ‘walked a mile’ in their shoes we offer a welcome listening ear that can then start to piece together and signpost parents to the help they need to enable them continue to support their family. Without POINT these families can often miss these opportunities and don’t always get to meet with other’s in similar situations either within their own communities or the wider Oldham community.
SEND children are often disregarded in society but by POINT empowering their parents and carers and them in their own right we can ensure that they have the same access to opportunities and achieve their potential.
